Zhejiang China-Europe Railway Express launches market-procurement customised train bound for Afghanistan
On June 8, at the Yiwu West Railway Station in Zhejiang Province, a customised China-Europe Railway Express train, loaded with 110 TEUs of goods sourced through market procurement, sounded its whistle and departed. The train will exit China via the Khorgos Port in Xinjiang and head directly to Afghanistan.
It is understood that the cargo on this customised train mainly comes from the market procurement trade model. This model was first piloted in Yiwu in 2013 as a national-level initiative, originating from the growing procurement demands of global merchants.
Over the past three years, the export value achieved through this model in Yiwu has accounted for approximately 80% of the city's total annual export value. It is worth noting that this reform achievement, originating in Zhejiang, has been replicated and promoted in 39 specialised markets across 22 provinces in China.
Currently, the operator of the Zhejiang China-Europe Railway Express is leveraging the local Jinhua (Yiwu) China-Europe Railway Express marshalling hub to further integrate the "physical market + market procurement + China-Europe Railway Express" business model. This approach consolidates small, scattered orders from the Yiwu market on-site, enabling container consolidation and train formation, further reducing overall logistics costs and benefiting both domestic and international customers.
